Mejlis of Turkmenistan (Parliament) Highlights USAID Meeting
The official website of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan reports that representatives of the Mejlis met with Jeffrey Skarin, USAID’s Country Representative to Turkmenistan, on July 15. The Mejlis website states that the meeting was organized within the framework of USAID’s “Governance Activities in Turkmenistan.” The website notes, “It was decided to actively support the digitalization of the activities of the main legislative body of Turkmenistan, share experience in lawmaking, as well as join efforts in issues related to improving the work of local self-government bodies.”
“On July 15, 2024, a representative of USAID in Turkmenistan Jeffrey Skarin met with representatives of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan within the framework of the project of USAID “Governance Activities in Turkmenistan” (GAT) which is being implemented in the country.
During the meeting, the parties discussed opportunities for expanding cooperation between the Mejlis of Turkmenistan and the U.S. Agency for International Development.
In this regard, it was decided to actively support digitalization of the activities of the main legislative body of Turkmenistan, share experience in lawmaking, as well as join efforts in issues related to improving the work of local self-government bodies.”
The Governance Activities in Turkmenistan is a new USAID award implemented by Q2 Impact.
